Sharon's Story
Hi Everyone!
I am Sharon, and I continue to be a people person and love to meet others. I am a retired elementary teacher, have three adult children, and six grandchildren. I love to spoil my grandkids, but don't babysit too much. I've done my tour. I am married but not stuck to the shoulder of my partner. I do the things that I like to do and am not afraid of doing things on my own.
I had a hemorrhagic stroke and brain surgery about 16 years ago and survived.Since then I did a half marathon in Jamaica and walked a full marathon in Vancouver, Canada and now do some public speaking for the American Stroke Association. Having aphasia (I'll let you look that up on the web) has not stopped me from moving forward and loving life even more.
My book...Expand for more
, Embrace the Moment, has been published. Also I had one of my children's stories published in a newsletter and got a couple of bucks for it too.
I like to write poetry, garden, dance and sing, hot tub, do photography, play with my computer, hike, exercise, travel, like to accept challenges and dream, and have some close penpals that I enjoy writing to.
I have a little bit of risk taking in me like when my husband and I traveled to England, Scotland, and Ireland to meet my penpal friends. It was a wonderful experience.
I am spiritual, forgive easily, and had a near-death experience.
I appreciate what I have and love my moments. I think there is nothing more satisfying than helping others.
