Sharon's Story
Life
I have been living most of the past 34 years in India where I have a career as a classical Indian dancer of Manipuri, Chhau and primarily Odissi dance. I occassionally do solo tours of the U.S.with accompanying musicians as well as around India and other countries. I have a daughter, Tara, who just got married in Dec,2006 to her significant other of since high school in Delhi and through her studies at Sarah Lawrence, Goldsmiths and School of Oriental and African Studies, U of London. She is now working on a graphic novel in Mumbai. I also coordinate the integration of Indian Studies into the American Embassy School, New Delhi curriculum. Do so...Expand for more
me writing, organizing of festivals and seminars and enjoy the rich cultural life of New Delhi. Along with stage performances, I also do some tv and film work. I fondly remember my days at Cass Tech and would love to hear from those who remember me. I occassionally get to Detroit as my mother still is there, though she spends 1/2 the year in India with me since its more fun.
Workplace
I left U of M to go to India on a Fulbright and that extended into a life in India with brief sojourns in San Diego, Shreveport,and Ann Arbor, but mostly in India. It's super to live in a world capital with so much happening culturally from in and out of the country.
