Sharon's Story
After graduatiom from Norview I graduated Ferrum Jr College, receiving an AS In Science ( I was a guard on the 1965-66 Ferrum Lady Panther Basketball squad). I attended Appalichian State University in Boone, NC and received a BS in Mathematics in December 1968. I married Harold Mitchell(of Hiddenite, NC) at Ferebee Halstead United Methodist Church (Fox Hall) in Norfolk on August 22, 1968. We have 2 daugherts ( Cathy Rubel (Jim),& Sheri Gates), and a son (Darrell Ernest Mitchell). Darrell was named after my father, that many of you know from Norview Junior High (PE Teacher Darrell Hudson). I have attended graduate school at ASU and NC State University. e School System In Iredell County, NC in 2003. I have lived on the family farm (where my husband was born in a log cabin) since 1968. Along with our son(who is the 4th generation to own & farm our land), we farm over 1000 acres of Hay and small grains along with 200+ mama Black Angus cows. We have traveled throughout the USA showing Black Angus Cattle. Our son, Darrell was the 1993 NC State FFA Vice President, and received the American Angus Association 1st place Scholarship. Harold & I were 4-H Leaders for 20 years.
In 1965 I was certified as a United Methodist Lay Speaker. Since my retirement from teaching, I have been doing alot of Lay Speaking in the Alexander and Iredell counties area of NC.
