Sharon's Story

2016 - I married the most wonderful man on the planet on May 20 - so thankful to call Jimmy Droze my husband! 2012 - God is good and I continue to be amazed at the blessings He brings my way. Avery adores "Papa Jimmy" and he is wrapped around her finger and I am thrilled to have more "babies" to spoil as only grandparents are allowed. 2009 - Sep Update: I'm now the very proud Gramme to Avery Christine Billington, born 9/24 at 9:28am: 6 lbs 15 oz; 21 in long; beautiful angel with lots of dark hair (go figure)! 2009 Update: I'm back in Summerville and Christi is expecting my 1st grandchild in September! 2008: Wow, let's see - what has happened in the last 25-30 years? I spent the summer after graduation in Santa Clara, CA but, alas the real world intruded and I returned in the fall to attend Charleston Southern University. I graduated in 1984 - biology major, chemistry minor - in spite of getting married (Bruce Stilmack, SHS 1979) during my sophomore year and having our only child on the 4th of July before my junior year!! Professionally speaking, I worked in health physics at Charleston Naval Shipyard until the DoD decision to close the base. We moved to Tallahassee so Bruce could finish his engineering degree at FSU (BSME 1996) while I worked to stand up the Marine Corps Radiological Controls Office. Working with the Marine Corps was both a challenging and rewarding experience. I love to travel but I lived out of a suitcase so, after 15 year...Expand for more
s with DoN, I went to work for a couple of state programs - 1st in Tallahassee, Florida and later in Corpus Christi, Texas. I finally decided that the prospect of going back to school for my MS was less daunting than the stress associated with regulating radioactive materials and I received my MS in Computer Information Systems in 2004. After over 20 years in health physics, I am now working with distance learning (online courses) at FSU - Go 'Noles! Personally, Bruce and I divorced after 21 years of marriage. Yes, it is a shame that two people can't work things out after investing that much time but we agree that we had a very successful marriage in that it produced a wonderful daughter. In spite of everything, we are still friends at this point so, yes, I can tell you how to get in touch with him, too. After dating for 5-1/2 years, our daughter married her high school sweetheart nearly 5 years ago... no grandkids yet but I'm known as Gramme to their dog and the cat! My sisters and parents still live in Summerville and we are still extremely close. I am definitely planning to make more frequent visits to Summerville now that I am once again closer to home. No matter what's going on, I always try to make the most of it and have the time of my life - life is too short to sweat the small stuff and most of it is small stuff. I am healthy and active; love traveling and history (a good combination); and am excited about catching up with old friends!
