Sharon's Story
Life
After leaving Indiana, I lived in Colorado for many years and then relocated to California 1987. Presently, I am living in Lake Chapala, Mexico with my husband, two Border Collies and two cats. I was a Neurofeedback practitioner and Behavioral Therapist in Southern California until 2000. Prior to 1994 I had various occupations, which included owning a corporate travel agency in Colorado and being a flight attendant for Continental Airlines. I had continual schooling while raising my son from a prior marriage. From 1992 to 1995 I owned a Calanetics Fitness Studio and retail store In Studio City, CA. We eventually lost that business to the 1994 Northridge Earthquake. I continued my education and became a Behavioral Therapist, Neurofeedback Practitioner, Medical Hypnotherapist with additional healing modalities.
I became ill with Mulitiple Sclerosis and was forced to give up my practice. Behind every closing there is a new opportunity. Since that time, I have been able to return to my first love of Art and went back to school. I now sculpt Native American Masks and paint Southwest Contemporary Art. My work was published in L.A. Direction Magazine and I was preparing to go into an Art Gallery in L.A., when we decided to move to Mexico. My husband was a retired Art Director for the movies. His swan song ...Expand for more
was Pirates of the "Carribbean II" and III. He designed the ships and has been working in the industry for 35 yrs. He recently decided retirement wasn't for him so went back to work in the movies. He just completed "Dragonball" and will be starting soon on "Narnia III". We are looking to see where we might want to relocate since we live so far interiorly in Mexico. Possibly another area of Mexico, New Mexico, Arizona, or California.
I never seem to be far from rescuing animals, particularly in Mexico. When we lived in California my oldest Border Collie, who died in July 2007, and I were a team for Crisis Response. She was an amazing dog that was awarded by Red Cross for her work at Hurricane Katrina. I still miss her...she was my best friend and traveled everywhere with me.
I have a son that now lives in Seattle with his wife and three boys. A stepdaughter now living in California with her husband and four children, a stepson in Seattle and a guardian daughter living in Italy with her husband and baby daughter with a new baby due in July. That will gives us 9 grandchildren combined.
Mexico has been a complete education for me and until one lives there, you never really appreciate all that America has to offer. Mexico is a neighbor and yet so far away with a completely different culture and lifestyle.
