Sharon's Story
I've had a wonderful time in a half-dozen careers during my life with Jack Stewart, a psychologist. High school teaching near BGSU (algebra, geometry) while Jack was in grad school; teaching nursery school in Bar Harbor, ME where our son Dylan was born; administering HUD-funded programs for local government in Frederick, MD; and grant writing for our small rural town and for local school districts here in Washburn, WI, overlooking Lake Superior. I am truly a generalist!
I got involved with a fledgling arts council when we moved here in 1993, served as president for 15 years of growing and building credibility and am now in my sixth year on the Wisconsin Arts Board. I love the statewide involvement.

ironment and planning for sustainability, winter and summer outdoor activities, kayaking and sailing, and lots of visual and performing artists. I'm mostly retired, but busy as a volunteer running a National Trust for Historic Preservation grant, hoping to identify a feasible reuse and investors to refurbish our local Civic Center, a 1918 Dutch Colonial building which is special in the memories of long-time local residents.
Our son lives next door and we're busy planning for his future. He has Asperger's and will always need supervision. We value his company and having his muscle nearby as we start to fall apart. A fated 3-year marriage resulted in a wonderful 15 yo grandson who lives nearby with his mom.
I regret not making it to my high school reunion: even with a year's notice, I just didn't get it together.
