Sharone's Story
I came across, and scanned in, a picture of our class... taken from the clock tower in November 1971, if I remember right. It's funny how over the years I've thought about so many people. Wondered how they are... where they are, maybe even who they are. Some of us are gone... quite young in fact. But with the wonders of modern technology some of us have caught up with each other and it's like picking up where we left off. (Only we are older and hopefully wiser.)
I kept a story up here for ages, but didn't think anyone read the stories much. But then I read some other stories and it brought a smile to my face!
So my story... well, a quick synopsis is simply that I left New Jersey when I was 23 and have been back for a few visits. I tend to miss the shore. I live in England now, the sea is ...Expand for more
at the end of my street, but before that I spent 20 years in the desert. The desert was nice... very grand and majestic, but I prefer the softness of trees and mountains and having water nearby. I often think of the times we all shared... winters when we'd go up into the woods and the boys would clear snow off the frozen pond and someone would build a fire and we'd ice skate. Lunch in the cafeteria, rows of tables and laughter rising. Art class... sometimes some of us would sit outside and do our work. Sometimes I'd sit in the supply closet and listen to Danny Moore play the piano on the other side of the wall.
So here's a hello to you and a thought for our friends who are gone. And why didn't anyone warn me that my knees would suddenly hurt when I hit a certain age! unfair!
