Shawn's Story
Life is good but always changing,
Hello "empty nest." I am somewhat curious about my former classmates and am reconnecting with old friends. Getting ready for the 40th reunion of my college down in Colorado Springs.
I am adjusting to downsizing my housing requirements. Four bedrooms for me and one cat are a little more than I need, especially since she is strictly a house cat.ÃÂàIt is amazing how much stuff you accumulate over the years and the challenge is letting go of it. Just sorting it out takes time. I keep busy with home repairs and updating which never stops.
I am continuing a successful small family business. I have a wonderful daughter who is exploring the Theater Arts in New York City. She is completing voice-over projects for audio books (nine published and growing); working on book publishing/editing projects; tutoring math, the sciences and French; and getting very little sleep. I am excited to see what she will explore next with her broad and amazing set of skills.
My siblings are all doing well and we keep in touch. Dad passes away May 18, 2015 at age 90. My siblings are all healthy and very busy and all experiencing that same empty nest. The nieces and nephews are concentrated in Houston, TX, Bakersfield, CA, Aztec, NM, Fargo, ND, Portland, Maine, and Elizabeth, CO. Youngest brother Brett has 3 children and 3 grandchildren (2); Shannon has 2 children and a grandchild; Bryan has 4 children and 1 grandchild; and Patrick has 2 children and 1 grandchild. I may be jealous. My paternal first cousins are spread across the country and the globe. When I feel a hankering for ...Expand for more
grandchildren, I am available to family and friends. I am always up for an excuse to revisit Lakeside Park, the Zoo, the Children's Museum, the Circus or ?
Sister Shannon's daughter, Niece Kathleen, is diving for the University of Denver, while considering biomechanical engineering for a future career. Shannon's daughter Kimberly finished up her enlistment with the Navy (medical corpsman) and is pursuing her education and her son Kevin (who runs like the wind).
Brother Bryan's son Matt is at Oregon playing football (center) and working on his Masters while preparing for a career in business. Bryan's daughter, Catherine is playing volleyball for SMU in Houston. Bryan and Stacy are busy managing pension funds. Son Kris keeps active in civil engineering (and helped to build projects for RTD fast tracks.) Son Jason, wife Kendra and daughter are in Denver.
Brother Pat's son Ryley is a CFO for an energy company. Pat's oldest son Bart is enjoying Bakersfield, CA( with Meghan and son Colin) while working for Chevron. Pat and Kelly are keeping busy in the energy patch.
Brother Brett and wife Brenda are back in Fargo, ND after assisting Dad for the past few years. Brett continues his computer program/global data integration managementand flying between Fargo, ND and Maine for periodic visits to see his children (3) and grandchildren (2).
We occasionally make it out to Western Kansas visiting my mother's side of the family and our first cousins still there. Many of their children (male and female) are taller than me and very accomplished athletically. We enjoy the updates on their various contests.
