Shawn's Story
Life
Born in Salem Massachusetts, moved to Ipswich when I was 1 or 2 years old, and moved to Woburn when I was in the 4th grade. In 1993, I joined the Navy and I was stationed in Sasebo Japan for 4 years, and came back to Woburn after completing my service. I have recently moved up here to Exeter New Hampshire and am living with the most wonderful and most beautiful girl in the world.
School
I started my grade school education in Ipswich, Massachusetts, where I still have a lot of fond memories of when the Boone Hall was for kindergarten and the Shatswell School was for grades 1-3. When I was in the 4th grade my family moved to Woburn and I started at the Malcolm White School. Then it was up to the John F. Kennedy Middle School for grades 7-9. Good times. Then came the party years at Woburn Senior High School. Great times. I graduated in 1984 and started my stint of nowhere jobs (read my work bio).
College
After getting out of the navy in 1997, I was invited to pursue a college degree at UMass Boston. They started me out with a college preparation course for veterans. Surprisingly enough, I passed ...Expand for more
with flying colors. I did one semester at UMass Boston before transfering my credits to ITT Technical Institute. I completed a two year course in computer-aided drafting (with a 3.8 GPA)
Workplace
I have had numerous jobs, most of them in Woburn. The best one was the Engineering draftsman position with North American Industries. Since I recently moved up to Exeter, New Hampshire, finding a job in my career field seems difficult, but I am still looking. I have taken a position as a Production worker for now, but will continue to search for a better position.
Military
Japan was awesome! I had a really good time there. Hanging out at Mister Donuts with good friends John (Briggs) from the Belleau Wood and Chris (?) from the Dubuque, not to mention the guys from my own ship. The city of Sasebo made it easy and fun for bar-hopping. I had an awesome time in all the other coutries my ship visited also. Australia, Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand, Korea, Indonesia, Philipines, Guam and all the others. Experiencing different cultures was a real trip. Would like to hear from my Mister Donuts crew. Drop me a line.
