Shawn's Story
Life
Met my wife Emily Black at CBC in '97, married in July '99, the women of my dreams. We have 3 children, Shawna, Shelby, and Ryan. We live in Waterloo, Iowa. We bought our first home this year. We have many friends from church and work. We spend most of our time with kids and friends.
School
Spent most of my time in High School studying science and math classes, working as a bus boy/waiter, played sports, lifted weights, and hung out with friends. My best friend was Ryan Carlton. We had a lot of fun together and continue our friendship today.
College
Started CBC two weeks after graduation (summer '95) and took a calculus class. Transfered to WSU Tri-Cities in '97 and graduated with a Bachelor's of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering in May 2000. During this time I worked at engineering companies in Kennewick and the Hanford site (see work profile). Currently finishing Master's of Science degree in Mechanica...Expand for more
l Engineering at Iowa State University while working at John Deere Product Engineering Center, will graduate May of 2005. Plan on getting my MBA and a Professional Engineering (P.E.) license.
Workplace
During HS I worked as a bus boy/waiter/dishwasher. After graduation and while going to CBC I worked at Super Lube on Canal Drive in Kennewick changing oil. I also worked at Worley Surveying Co. during summer of 96, then back to Super Lube. Then worked at Stirling Technology Co. in Kennewick for 2 years as a engineering assistant/tech doing welding, machining, assembling, testing, and fixture design. Hired on at Cogema Engineering Corp. in 99 and worked at Hanford Site 200 West area and Cold Vacuum Storage/transfer area. After WSU graduation I hired on at John Deere Product Engineering Center in Waterloo, Iowa. I design, analyze, and test tractor parts and systems. It is the dream job I wanted and great pay, bonus, benefits.
