Shawnda's Story
My husband Carl and I have been married 15 years. I tell anyone who's standing still long enough about my amazing 20 year old daughter named Kristina, who just moved to Austin. My husband's daughter Lauren is 26 and graduated from Colorado State with a degree in Equine Science in May 2008. She just got married in 2009 and moved to San Diego. My first husband had a daughter & son from his previous marriage, now 27 and 29, with whom I'm still very close. I have two step-granddaughters and one step-grandson who are beautiful, adorable, smart, and...well, you get the picture!
We live on 7.5 acres just south of Fort Worth, TX. Our "Rockin' T Ranch" has become quite the pet menagerie over the years (we even have a "Cemetery Tree" - a truly magnificent old oak on our property). Dogs and cats - even a skunk for a while! - tend to wand...Expand for more
er onto our property and stay. At this writing, we are pared down to three cats & 5 dogs (and by pared down I mean that at one point, we had 6 cats, 13 dogs, 5 horses, a snake & a bunny!!). LOL!!
I started Junior College right after high school, but decided after a year that I needed a break from school in general. I went back part-time five years later, and earned my AA in Accounting - which is hilarious to anyone who really knows me. I want to go back for my Bachelor's - but I can't seem to find the time.
Hubby and I both work a lot of hours, and I'm thankful all our kids are grown & gone.
Life is very full - work, pets, property (all by itself a full-time job)...the list goes on and on, and there are never enough hours in the day.
