Life Where to start, I have been married for 30 years to someone I knew in elementary school. We live in Yellowknife have been for 25 years and love it. After being the gm at the Yellowknife INN for about 6 years we decided to become foster parents. It is the best and hardest job I have ever had. Well after high school and what can I say, I did what I did and then grew up. Never regret the past. It makes us who we are. I became an animal activist, we have cats, dogs, birds, fish, degus, hampsters. I got in a whole bunch of trouble saving animals but really who cares what other people think, I don't lose any sleep. The NWT is the place to be for the wildlife, you can go out of town to watch the bison on the road. Red fox come into you back yard and aren't afraid of people. Ptarmigans are birds, they call them ptarmachickens, they come right up to the front door and from what I hear mighty tasty. Taste like chicken! The first year we were here the temp went down to -65C. Then you can look forward to the 24 hour sun, not me hate the heat love the cold. Some people don't look forward to the 24 hour dark. The one thing I do miss about Nova Scotia is salt water smell. Not to mention family, I lost my mom a few years ago to cancer she was 49 when she died, I made it back before she died but as people become older and being 12 hours away it gets a little scary. everyone asks if we will ever come back to Nova Scotia, when I die I will be back.
