Sheila's Story

Life Got married in 1981 after graduating from nursing school. I divorced in 2004 after 23 years of marriage and have moved back to St. Louis to be closer to my family. In August of 2007 I remarried to a wonderful man who makes me very happy. I have a 24-year-old son, a 22-year-old daughter, and a 16-year-old son. The older two live on their own in TX and my daughter has provided me with 2 darling grandsons. My youngest son moved up to MO in the summer of 2007 to live with me and finish school up here. I am an acute hemodialysis nurse working at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in the city. I have just completed my Bachelor's Degree in nursing through Jacksonville University's online program. I hope to go on and get my Master's degree so that I can teach. I enjoy relaxing outside by playing catch or taking a long walk with my husband. When the weather doesn't cooperate with being outside, I relax inside with a good book or by crocheting baby blankets for family or to donate to the Children's hospital. My first husband was in the Navy, so I have lived a lot of different places before coming home to St. Louis. I lived in Norfolk, then spent 13 years in the San Francisco area before moving back to Norfolk. When he retired from...Expand for more
the Navy, we moved to the Dallas area, and I was there for 7 years before coming home. I liked California the best of all the places I lived, except here, of course. I lived through the 1989 earthquake and the 1990 Oakland fire, and part of me still misses my life out there. I really enjoy sports, especially Cardinals baseball. It's one of the things that my new husband and I enjoy together and considered a prerequisite when we were each looking for a new relationship. We get out to the ballpark for as many games as we can. We spend a lot of time playing catch in the spring and summer. It's good "face to face" talking time, and we enjoy being outside together. I have three cats who think they rule the roost. I've always been a cat person, and luckily I found a man who loves them too. I don't remember too many people from high school. I lived at the edge of the district and took 2 city buses each way to school every day. I was in Ms. Segall's advisory in Rm. 104 all 4 years. I was always very quiet because my only priority in high school was my grades. Starting sophomore year, I spent any free time I had in the pool. I enjoyed high school immensely and will always remember it as 4 of the best years of my life.
