Sheila's Story

I am a Native Californian but lived in Louisiana until I was nine. My family moved back to California in 1976 and I went to several different schools, some due to relocation, some due to being drafted as a Magnet Student, and others because I found hanging out at the pond a lot more fun than sleeping through Social Studies. I went to college and graduated at 19. I Finished my Externship and went on to receive my Phlebotomy Certification. I have two children (boy & girl) who were both born before my 22 birthday. After childbirth, I Went back to school and obtained some now obsolete Computer Certifications. At 25 my husband decided it was time to relocate during the recession. So, We moved to his hometown in Idaho to be closer to his family. My husband eventually joined the Union as a Journeyman Electrician while I worked for a short time at a local hospital. I shifted gears and went to work as support staff/Office Manager for a local law firm where I remained for 8 years. After leaving the firm I worked for an appraiser as a GIS Analyst. I was married for almost 15 years but divorced after my marriage was strained after several life-changing events occurred. Such as my brother walking off in the middle of a snowstorm in 1997 & leaving a suicide note of sorts. This was directly followed by almost losing my son to an unidentified spinal cord tumor (we were so lucky my husband was in the Union when this happened. The Union guys really...Expand for more
came through for my son). After the divorce, I remarried for a very short time to an abusive psychopath that I divorced only because it was faster than an annulment. I moved back to California for two years & worked as a Paralegal/Administrative Assistant for another firm before getting injured at work. I then moved back to nowheresville small-town Idaho, where I met my fiancee who is ten years my junior. When I returned to Idaho my daughter decided to remain in California due to her employment at a Bay Area law firm and my son returned to Idaho with me but married and subsequently moved to Nevada where he does deep mine rescue and is a firefighter. Incidentally, my son (the one with the tumor) is now almost 6'6" and still growing it seems. My brother, Both kids are happily married and each has a son and a daughter (yes I have grandchildren) and doing well for themselves. As for myself, I Admin missing pet and person's pages on Facebook and I recently had a poem published in an Anthology - #1 New Release on Amazon (It's Still Poetry II). Some of my work is copyrighted on Poetrysoup.com. Patrick Beavers has not been heard from in 13 years and is listed as a missing person. I have his information posted on classmates under his name for any who are interested or remember him. School I wish I knew then what I know now. Spent less time at the pond and the mall and spent more time with my family. College see my life bio.
