Sheila's Story

Life After graduating from West Edgecombe High, I attended UNC-Chapel Hill for a year. In 1979, I married and remained in Rocky Mount. We divorced in 1994 and I remarried and moved to Mooresville, NC. In 2004, my husband became disabled so we moved to TN last year to be close to my family. My hubby can no longer drive so we thought it best to be near family in case I needed someone to help. We have a dog and a few cats which are like children to us. I never had children due to no fault of my own. Anyway, we live on about 4 acres in TN and I plan on putting in several types of gardens along with some fruit and nut trees. My husband and I reenact the 1700's time period which includes the Revolutionary War. I have learned to knit, weave, spin, dye materials, make soap and candles, and do all sorts of crafts that were done back then. Until he became disabled, we were going to about 30 events a year and living as our forefathers would have done. We were in the Mel Gibson movie that was done in 1999 named "The Patriot". I portrayed a Continental Soldier and my husband was Brig. Gen. Daniel Morgan. We also helped to promote the movie by going to theaters in our area dressed in our uniforms. Being invited to the premiere in Charlotte was another highlight. I have my own uniform and know how to use a flintlock rifle. Of course, I normally dress as a woman would have and don't portray a soldier very often. I do a lot of res...Expand for more
earch on the 1700's so that we are accurate in our characters, mannerisms, speech, etc. We have been extras in several other movies. I enjoy traveling to historic sites, researching our family trees, reading, gardening, music - both listening to and playing, spending time with family, writing short stories; poems; and plays, collecting items related to my craft interests, doing my various crafts, cooking and baking, and collecting some other antiques. To go along with my interests in history and the crafts that were done in the 1700's, I plan on putting in a weaver's garden, dyer's garden, kitchen garden, and other gardens that will have plants known to exist during that time. Until my husband became disabled, I worked as a pharmacy technician. I have worked for Eckerd Drug, a couple of independent pharmacies, and worked at Wal Mart Pharmacy for a little over 10 years. Now that I have family near to help with him, I plan on going back to work at least part time. I have fibromyalgia, osteoporosis, suffer from migraine headaches and insomnia, and now wear eyeglasses. I was involved in a car accident in 1996 where a big rig hit me in the rear and now have problems with my knees. But, I am still alive! I would love to reconnect with the friends I had in the schools I attended and even some that I worked with. My bio doesn't sound very interesting, but I have enjoyed my life so far - both the good times and the bad.
