Sheila's Story
Life
Left Oswego and got a BA in Economics at Mount Holyoke College in Massachusetts, spent a couple of years working for an HMO there and then went to Boston University for an MBA in Health Care Management. Have lived in W. Mass, Boston, DC, Miami, Rochester and now Hattiesburg, Mississippi working for various healthcare organizations, including the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy and on national health care reform proposals.
Went through a brief marriage and divorce from another class of '86 member, had a son, Anthony in 1997. I married again a few years later and am in the process of a divorce again. My romantic life in high school should have given me a clue that I suck at this, lol. I had a son Andrew in 2003 and have had custody of my husband's twin nieces, Cheryl and Rebecca who were born in 1992. They are all busy with schools and sports and things. e favorites. Andrew plays soccer and t-ball and loves to run. I have no idea where that came from. The girls play tennis and run cross country. The three oldest are all good students but like all kids have their own challenges. My youngest is a holy terror and I have no idea how he'll do in school. Only time will tell. He starts kindergarten this fall.
I went back to school in 2002 and got another degree, this time in Therapeutic Recreation. I now work as the Executive Director of The Salvation Army Boys & Girls Club here and we serve about 300 kids per day between two sites. I love my job (most days) and working with the kids and seeing them succeed. I do everything from fundraising to mopping up overflowing toilets if necessary...the glamour is all mine! It is a great organization though and I truly feel that this position combines my business background with my love of recreation and working with kids. It's the perfect job for me.
