Sheila's Story
I came out to CA when I got married in 1972 to Jerry. Had 3 kids, 2 boys & girl. Tim, Dean & Paula Kay. Divorced that one.
5-6 yrs later thought Jerry & I should remarry. Did it, divorced it. (We are better friends than married people.)
Was on my "own" with the kids for a long time. Worked several jobs as a single mom. Then, via God's help, got a really good position as a Data Entry Operator. (Hated it, but had kids to raise amd it was good money at the time.)
Then, I found my "niche" working in the Superior Court of Stanislaus County, Modesto California.
Then I moved over to the District Attorneys' for a few.
I located "deadbeat parents" for non-pyment of child support. The most of them were locked up in prisons across CA or homeless, or just not traceable. It was "fun" catching the ones I did find. My motto is, "You play, you pay!" Or for goodness sakes, at least visit a drugstore or go to planned parenthood.Worked my way up to the highest grade in my position in less than 5 years.
I held 3 titles. "Legal IV, Court Monitor and Locator."
(Without a brown nose
OR
calloused knees.)
Married Preston in 1993. Lasted a few months. I have NO clue as to why I married him? I think I was in a fog and was mesmerized with his gorgeous Harley Davidson. Go figure.
~ Divorced him.~
Now I am with my current husband, Roger. We have been together on and off since Paula was 4 yrs old. She is now 32 yrs old.
However,we didn't get married until 1996. Long, long story there.
I will just say that he is younger than me and that I didn't know a good thing when I had it. So I decided to cast him ...Expand for more
off a few times before finally realizing that we should be together. I know now this is what was in God's plan for us. Roger was determined in his mind/heart that we would be together in the end.
We have 10 grand children. 5 boys & 5 girls.
We have 3 granddaughters that are closest to us. Our little 3 yr old was diagnosed with lukemia on Jan 13, 2009. (You can see her in the pic above with "Papa" and me when she was diagnosed.)
It's a hard thing to deal with sometimes as a grandbaby was lost on Dec 8th. 2001. He was born with heart problems and surgery didn't help. He would have been her big brother.
We adopted one of our grandchildren. He is 14 now, 15 in November. He has Been with us since he was 19 mos old.
It is a challenge sometimes. But, w/God's help and plans he will be a responsible adult. Plus, we can kick him out when he's 18! LOL
Currently we are dealing with getting our kitchen remodeled. Sicilia getting her treatment and taking care of her sisters. Roger does this. Takes care of the kids. Paula claims him to be her real dad because he has always been there when she needed a daddy.
Very, very, very long story.
I am seriously thinking about writing a book. So much past & coming up drama and trauma. But, hey, we're still here and thank God for that.
Hope that I can reconnect with some of the kids I went to school with. I was kind of a loner. Ran with a small circle of friends.
I want to say to all that may remember me, "I sure hope that I wasn't a witch to anyone back then. If this is how one remembers me, I would hope that you will forget the past & just be in the present.
Thanks!
