Sheila's Story
I am living in Oklahoma and both of my daughters live in California. Stacey lives in Sunnyvale and has my grand"dog"son, Max and Sherah lives in San Diego and has my grand"dog"daughter, Nahla. As of yet, no human grandchildren. I moved to Oklahoma right after my parents retired and moved out here. It seems that all my sibs except one followed our parents to Oklahoma! We left poor little Valery behind in Salinas! But that gives me a good excuse to come back and visit. Which I really enjoy doing. Val makes sure that I get to see Monterey Wharf every time I visit and she lets me spoil her grandson, Jacob, since I don't have any grandchildren of my own. She's a great sister! And of course my other sister, Kitty, lives down the road here about 10 miles. Don't get to see her as much as I would like but often enough that we are still friends! LOL She has lots of grandchildren and I get to enjoy them also. My two brothers, Clayton and Heath live out here too and we all get together for holidays. What a crazy group! I feel sorry for their spouses. I'm sure they wonder what in the world they got themselves into. Oh, well, for bett...Expand for more
er or worse and all that good stuff!! I've been working as a secretary/receptionist/office manager for several different businesses since I moved out here. Currently am working for a government funded pre-K program. We have 11 classrooms in our county and the office I work out of has two classes of 3 yr olds. Keeps me on my toes! I am also responsible for our community outreach programs and work with the public on programs such as Weatherization and Prescription Assistance. You really meet some unique people when you work with public assistance programs. I enjoy living in the country and am still working with foster children. I have helped foster over two dozen children in the last 12 years. Some of them have kept in contact and it is very gratifying to see them now as grown adults with children of their own. I wish I could say all of them turned out successfully but that wouldn't be true. There have been a few that have really broken my heart but you can only do what you can with what you have and be thankful for the ones that turn out so well. Well, on that jolly little note I guess I will close for now. Might add more later.
