School
Attended Wooten Elementary for 1-6 in Austin.
Attended and graduated from Lanier HS for 7-12 in Austin.
Graduated in 1969 from Lanier. My favorite classes were in science and history. I loved my physics class and the teacher - Mrs. Hansen - was truly outstanding.
I really liked being a member of the Vikettes and wished we had been able to continue as seniors.
I also wish the girls had been able to compete in athletics like the smaller towns in Texas. I hated half-court basketball and I also hated that we only competed once a year with other schools in Austin in things like basketball and volleyball. I am really glad that Title IX came along in 1972 for girls athletics.

ton.
University of Texas - 1970-1973 - pre-med and then education. I didn't have enough money for med school, so I switched to education. Was a member of AOII sorority and met my husband while he was going to Texas A&M on a blind date.
Texas A&M University - I got married, so went to Texas A&M with my husband from 1973-1974.
University of Houston - 1974-1975 - graduated with a BS in Education. My husband finished up at Texas A&M and I still had two courses left to graduate so ended up at UofH. Through major change and other things, I ended up with 168 hours for a bachelor's degree. Talk about overkill.
Workplace
Worked in private industry from 1969-1978.
1978-1989 - Taught at Stewart Elementary in Kemah - with Clear Creek ISD.
1989-1992 - Again worked in private industry and served on the Clear Creek Board of Trustees.
1992-2006 - Taught at Mae Smythe Elementary in Pasadena - with Pasadena ISD. Retired after 25 years in education.
I am currently self-employed as an educational consultant in science. I work with schools or school districts "fixing" their science programs. I recently completed 3 weeks in El Paso teaching over 2,000 5th graders in science. What an experience - I love to excite students in science and let them see the possibilities for a career.
