Sherry's Story
After high school my parents decided that I needed to attended the Hillsdale FWB Bible College in Moore, Ok.
After college I moved back in with mom and dad until I found a job and was eventually able to buy my own home.
Living on my own and being single was great. I was perfectly content but (against my wishes) a friend of mine set me up on a "blind date".
On New Years Eve in 1989 I meet a guy named Ron. We became friends. Ron lived in Fayetteville AR (about an hour away from where I lived) so we saw each other on weekends when he visited his parents in Ft. Smith.
In June of 1991 we became engaged and married in November of 1991.
In February of 1995 we had a set of twin boys. They were born with complications and were premature.
In 1997 I started my own business, as a result of a friends suggestion.
In February of 1999 Ron and I had a daughter. Our little princess!
In September 2000 our fourth child was born. The other three were so laid back but it was obvious that this one was going to have an attitude right from the start, and she does!
In 2003 during the Thanksgiving Holiday our suspicion of mom's cancer was confirmed. She did have lymphoma cancer and it was one of two non-curable forms. Although mom had a stem cell replacement a few years ago, she is now waiting to have a complete bone marrow transplant. Without a bone marrow transplant the outlook for her is not good. April 15th 2010 will be the date for the beginning of the transplant. Mom passed away in February of 2011. She had a long battle, she fought hard but in the end it wasn't the cancer so much that got her as it was the rejection of the bone marr...Expand for more
ow transplant.
Our boys are now 20 years old, both started out attending college. One just finished his second year in the Engineering program at U of A. He is registered for his third year and doing well. Our oldest son, took a full time job, in January. He left the Engineering program to pursue a job that he loves with hopes of taking over the company at some time in the future. Of course this means that he moved out and off so we don't get to see him as much as we like. We have two daughters that are still in high school. The oldest is still focused on wanting to become a doctor and the youngest one, well.....she still has a few years to decide.
I still enjoy singing and I love to sit and play the piano. We are still traveling with the school. Our oldest daughter is in the band. Both girls sing in Church and wherever they have an opportunity. We were blessed to be able to record a CD in October of last year. Our Church put together a CD with some of our singers on it. I sing with two different groups an all female quartet, then a mixed quartet. I was also able to include a solo on the CD. Our girls also put a song on the CD. It was a lot of fun being in the studio. We recorded a gospel CD so that was an extreme blessing! Would love to do it again sometime in the future.
We still find time to vacation and have enjoyed several trips to various locations throughout the USA. (I won't leave the country)LOL. Funny thing, since I put this last line in my original story Ron and I have talked about living outside the US and have begun checking into that. Funny how things change over the years. :)
