Sherry's Story
These days I am actually enjoying SOME of the perks of being a senior citizen! You get free drinks at Taco Bell! lol. I can't believe we've been out of high school for 41 years now.....WOW! As my granddaughter says "That is very Scaweee!!" These days I'm enjoying being retired. Some of the things I enjoy the most are my grandchildren, cooking, baking (though I don't do this as much as I'd like because I find it much too tempting for my own good), spending time with my wonderful family and friends, and activities associated with church. God has been faithful through every phase of my life, and I have grown to realize this is my most important relationship. I am in love with Jesus. He is "growing me up" in my faith, and believe me, it is a lifetime journey-ups and downs all along the way. I've learned that life has lots of sorrows, but even then, He has been with me turning bad into good...He is faithful. Another thing that I enjoy is camping. I absolutely love getting out into the outdoors, camping alongside a lake, a river, the ocean, whatever. Love the sound of the running water, the wildlife, vegetation, and the magnificent beauty of the sky at night without the city lights...Expand for more
masking the beauty of all the stars. It is breathtaking....the Milky Way on a clear night... what a breathtaking sight that is!! Also enjoy hiking and did an 8 mile hike into 3 Sisters wilderness, 8,000 feet up, and then came upon two lakes - not another human in sight other than our party. Tam Lake and Rim Lake I believe they were called. What an experience that was. So blue and so calm and still. The verse "Be still and know that I am God" came to mind. Wow!! You do not see this kind of beauty in the city. I'm kind of a chicken, worrying about running into a bear or cougar or BIG FOOT (Ha!), or getting lost and being one of those people the search parties are out looking for, but I conquered my fears and ended up finding another activity I enjoy. I also enjoy tending to my yard, flowers, and my favorite crop: tomatoes! This year I discovered that I LOVE flying. This is a real "head shaker" to my family as I have spent the last 25 years afraid of flying...avoiding it completely. Would love to reconnect with my school friends! Cindy, if you are out there, I lost your phone number when we moved. Would love to meet for lunch as we talked about. Call me if you still have my number!
