Shirl's Story
I am overseas mission minded. Africa is my passion especially Children in Crisis and my little guy over in Kenya. Written upon my heart are the rescued street children I worked with in Senegal for 2 months in the summer of 2007.
We also have alot of children in the U.S. that are in crisis too. You never have to reach out far to help one in crisis just surrender your heart and yield to Jesus because he is the total definition of LOVE, SACRAFICE and GRACE. MY SAVIOR. WITHOUT HIM I AM NOTHING.
Another mission trip in the planning stage...yep back to Africa this time East Africa, Uganda with the Cure Hospital to work with children born with deformities and aquired hydrocephalus ....
Asked who was my hero I would have to say my dad was my hero... He was kind, generous, always there for anything, patient, smart, encouraging, always willing to listen. I could tell my dad anything and even if I thought I would get in trouble as a kid he would never condemn me but always help me reason things out. My dad was a great provider and an over came alot of hardships later in life. His attitude was always possitive. s for us and not against us.
I love Sports, football being my favorite. I am a die hard Eagles fan even though orginally I am from St. Louis. I love dogs and groom them and obedience train them. As far as t.v. interests go when I was fourteen we purchased our 1st color t.v and I couldn't wait to watch everything in color as for the present I revert back to the old black and white shows, go figure...probably a comfort zone thing or the old shows made life look so simple... I love the old Twilight Zone series but mostly Andy Griffith and Leave it to Beaver and any old movie from the 30's,and 40's. My all time favorite movie is the GodFather...
If I won $100 million, I'd give alot of it to homeless shelters in Philadelphia and any children in Crisis within the U.S, then spend the rest on investments to keep it working for charities, family and Friends.
To be truly happy, I wouldn't change any circumstance good or bad that has happened to me because they have made me who I am today.
One of my favorite childhood memories is ice skating on Hillcrest pond and going the movies on a Sunday afternoon for 50 cents.
I am a nurse and travel to different medical facilities to abstract information. I love my job.
