Shirley's Story
Life
I was born in Gretna, Va. on Oct. 14, 1956. I was adopted that same year by Gracie and Fletcher Clark of Chatham, Va. I attended Central Elementary School from 1962 to 1969, Chatham High School from 1969 to 1974 and Averett College from 1974 to 1978. I moved to Richmond in August, 1978 to teach at Charles City High School. I met my husband, Rufus Temple, through his sister that worked with me. We went to the 1979 Jr/Sr. Prom together. School
I went to Central Elementary from Sept. 1962 to 1969. My teachers were Miss Jenkins, Mrs. Galloway, Miss Ghee, Mrs. Brandon, Mrs. Lea, Mrs. Johnson and Mr. Fenderson (just to name a few).
I went to Chatham High School from September 1969 to June 1974, where I was an honor graduate. I was in the Chorus for four years as well as Future Teachers of America, Future Homemakers of America, Tri-Hi-Y and the Pep Club.
