Shirley's Story
Life
I occasionally head back to Canada for a visit. When I go, I visit Brockville and the surrounding towns.. I went back to visit at Christmas 2013.
I went to the Bahamas on a cruise with my cousin- was very ill the whole time with pneumonia.. But I enjoyed the warm air!,
Since being "down under" in New Zealand for the last 42 years, I have visited Hawaii,Bali,Fiji, and Australia - quite a few times. New Zealand is a very small place compared to Canada, but very beautiful. It is only about 1500 miles from top to bottom and has such a variety of climates. (Florida's temperatures up north in Auckland, and Brockville's temperatures here in Dunedin) Not that I am trying to get you to come down here, but I still love to live here. Down the middle of New Zealand's South Island is a range of mountains which are breath-taking to look at! Because of the two islands, we have to either cross on a ferry- which takes 2& half hours - or fly. A lot of people only live on one island and never get to the other a...Expand for more
t all!! Of course, the North Island is warmer all year because of it being closer to the equator. But, the mountains still get snow most of the year in the North Island. I live in the South Island, mainly because of the "smallness" of the area. Not many people, and not so much crime!!
One of my daughters- Martha- finished university, and walked the Appalachian Trail in the States a few year's ago with her father. They took six and a half months to do it! She now works in Ottawa. My other daughter-Hannah- is at Teachers' College here in Dunedin.I have one granddaughter who is 17 years old. I have taught at Kavanagh College for the last 26 years. It is a a co-education Catholic high school.
I enjoy skiing, camping, traveling, gardening, reading, and shopping.
As I 'mature" I find I am looking forward to moving back to Canada- when I retire. I have decided to move back to Southern Ontario region. So, past friends, I will return!! I am slowly making my house here in Dunedin a millionaire palace! :)
