Shirley's Story
Life
Shortly after graduation we moved to Van Buren then returned to Upland about 3 years later. I still live there with my oldest brother Richard. I went to work at the VA Medical Center in Marion six days after graduation and retired from there 1-1-02. My brother's health is not good, so we spend a lot of time in various doctor's offices. His health has continued to decline, and he will be starting dialysis - at home - shortly. We travel to Arkan...Expand for more
sas to see our brother and his family every Christmas and oftentimes in the summer for special events like gradutions. We have gone to Branson, Missouri, for the last twelve years and to Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, for the last two years where I have attended a Christian Senior's Conference. I don't know how much traveling we'll be able to do in the future, but I guess his dialysis is only as confining as we let it be. I do enjoy retirement!
