Siobhan's Story

For those of you from Brighton High wondering who the heck I am... My maiden name is Stevenson, and I attended Maltby Middle School for two years before we moved to Iowa. I would have graduated with the class of '83 if we'd stayed, though, so I added myself just to reconnect with folks I remember from there. :) Life I lived in Juneau Alaska for five years from 1987 to 1993, then moved to central Vermont. After owning two different houses here, we built our dream house in 2004. We're quite happy here in our six acres of woods. We've managed to work our way through the debt accrued during the building and have started going abroad as of June 2010. We visited York, England. In 2011 we plan to visit Switzerland to stay at the vacation home of a friend. I'm a web applications and database developer for a state agency, and I have been with my husband since December, 1988. We married at the end of September, 1990. My husband is an IT manager, also working for the state, and I don't think I could have imagined the life I have right now back when I was in high school. School The person I miss most is Thomas Olson. I saw him in January of 2002 for an evening, but in some ways it was very painful. We're so far apart and I don't see anyway of bridging the gap because he's changed so much, and, well honestly, so have I, but I'd like to believe I'm just as accessible as I was. Jennifer Foote is married, happy, and has a baby now. I miss how close we were, but I know I can call her w...Expand for more
henever I need to, and she knows the same of me. She's a wonderful, lovely woman who does fantastic things in her church and community. I'm always going to ache a little that I didn't get in contact with my favourite teacher, Mr. Harmon before he passed away, just to let him know I turned out well. Sometimes I wonder how the people who were mean to me in school have turned out, and I suppose they've grown up, too, and might even regret some of the things they did to people back then. I know I have some regrets, and if I was anything other than tolerant or decent to you, please forgive me. We were all teenagers, and I guess it's just a stage we go through. :) College I studied theater arts and communications right out of high school at Southwest State University in Marshall, MN, but I dropped out after my second quarter (trimester). I moved to Minneapolis and worked for a couple of theatre companies there briefly, but bounced back and forth between there and home for a few years before picking up stakes and moving to Juneau, Alaska. I made it back to college in the mid90s after we'd moved to Vermont, and I studied psychology and women's studies at Vermont College for two and a half years before leaving that, as well. I've determined that I don't really feel much of a need for a degree. I know how to study, learn, and research, and my job doesn't require it of me. I hate the hoops you have to go through so I content myself with the occasional classes and research project. :)
