Skeeter's Story
College
I received a BBA from Valdosta State College in 1989 but decided that teaching was really my calling. I went back, got certified, and the rest is history. I completed my Master's in Secondary Education in 1993. I finally started on an Education Specialist degree through Georgia Southern in January 2006. I completed it in May 2008 and do not plan on ever working on another college degree. In November 2006 I was honored with membership in Kappa Delta Pi, the international educational honor society. I also am a member of Pi Lamda Theta educational honor society.
Workplace
My first job...Expand for more
was at Tiftarea Academy, but I soon came home to Nashville. I taught math for 9 years at Berrien Middle before moving to Berrien High in the fall of 2002. In 2003 I was named department head, and I also serve on the school improvement committee. One of my proudest accomplishments was being named STAR Teacher by a former student in 2001, 2006, and 2007. Former students have also nominated me to appear in five editions of Who's Who Among America's Teachers. This recognition from students is special to me and also humbling. I was Berrien High’s Teacher of the Year for the 2016-17 school year.
