Robert's Story

Life Biography In September of 2001 Bob McTyre and his partners founded Apogee Attractions Inc. The company is involved in development projects around the world and provides professional services in all areas of the theatrical and themed entertainment industry. Areas of their expertise include creative development and supervision, entertainment and spectaculars, programming, project management, all aspects of operating management, marketing and business affairs. They are currently working with clients in the Georgia, US Virgin Islands, England, Dubai, Turkey and Asia. Bob accepted the position of Executive Vice President and Executive Producer for Leavesden Studios in England in 1997. Leavesden Studios is currently the home for Warner Brothers “Harry Potter.” Leavesden is planned to be a major new theme park and new studio on a beautiful 286-acre site just outside of London. In his position, Bob was in charge of all creative efforts for this exciting new development. He also oversaw all marketing efforts for the park and studio. In 1994 Bob was appointed Senior Vice President of Walt Disney Theatrical Productions for the Walt Disney Company. He was responsible for the founding, start up and operation of this new business unit for Disney. Additionally, he supervised production, operations and marketing of live entertainment for the legitimate stage, domestically and internationally. During his tenure he produced the 1994 Broadway hit and Tony Award-winning musical Disney’s Beauty and the Beast. h hit productions as Miss Saigon, Chicago, 42nd Street, Fiddler on the Roof, Hello Dolly!, Annie and many more. Bob and his team also set a world record when they rolled out seven additional companies of Beauty and the Beast in 1995 in Los Angeles, Toronto, Tokyo, Osaka, Vienna, Melbourne, and the US National Tour. Subsequently Bob set up productions for London, Stuttgart, and Mexico City. In 1998 the musical won the Laurence Olivier Award for best new musical in London. Bob also directed the pre-production work on three new musicals for Disney, The Lion King, King David, and Aida. Additionally, he was in charge of the New Amsterdam Theatre in New York City and the Chicago Theatre. Prior to 1994 Bob was Vice president of Entertainment Walt Disney Attractions – West Coast. In this capacity he was responsible for all creative and operational aspects of entertainment at The Disneyland Resort, national and international tours of Disney entertainment, and developing entertainment for new parks in Anaheim and Tokyo. He was the Executive Producer of FANTASMIC!, which became one of the most profitable Disney attractions ever. Before joining Disney in 1982, Bob was with the Nederlander Organization for five years as General Manager and marketing head of the Greek Theatre, Pantages Theatre, and Wilshire Theatre in Los Angeles, the Pacific Amphitheatre in Orange County, and was Vice President of Centre Stage Advertising. Prior to his employment with Nederlander, Bob spent five years with the Shubert Organization as Operations Manager for the Shubert Theatre in Los Angeles. Bob graduated from Michigan State University and did post graduate work at the University of California, Los Angeles.
