I've written for magazines, radio, the stage, TV and film and have been a director and producer, among other things. I won a Silver Medal at the NY International Film Festival for a how-to video. In November 2008 I worked with Vince Gill on the Introduction for the autobiography of 80 year-old music legend Patti Page that I wrote with Patti, an amazing lady with 65 years in showbiz. See Patti's site for details on the book. Unfortunately, we lost her on New Year's Day 2013. The third edition of my Complete Idiots Guide to Screenwriting came out in July 2008 and my book about craigslist came out in the fall of 2009. The fourth edition of my book How To Write What You Want & Sell What You Write came out May 2011 - it's been selling for 20 years. I continue writing books and scripts for private clients as well as major publishers. In 2011 I edited and partially ghost-wrote a book on management consulting that came out in 2012. In 2012, I finished a book on stress management (ghost-written) for a Louisiana company. In 2013, I finished the first draft of the biography of the CEO of Masimo, a Fortune 200 company. I joined the company to help with their 25th anniversary in 2014, and wrote another book for the CEO. I also have private clients I help with book and film projects. My son is 25 and after working on three network TV shows, became executive producer of the 'Rick Amato Show" on the new OneAmerica Network in San Diego. A documentary he made while there won an Emmy. He is now freelancing as a producer, cameraman, and writer in Los Angeles and we are making a documentary together about patient safety. My daughter ...Expand for more
