Sonia's Story
Life
Hi! This is Sonia. I attended St. John's 1952-55 and now living in
Glendale, Arizona for the past 23 years. Still have family in Winnipeg
and travel back to visit friends and family at least every 2-3 years.
Am now retired after working in a high end Fine Art gallery for 15
years as receptionist - it was a great position and I was exposed to
art, design and so many interesting people in the business, as well as
the artists themselves. In the last few years, my husband and I have taken a few cruises and travelled to various spots in the southwest. I married a man who had two children and they grew up
with us in the Okanagan Valley. They are both settled in different
locations - our daughter retired from the Canadian Armed Forces and
now lives in the Yukon, and our son is married with three sons in their
late teens and living in Ca...Expand for more
lgary. I still miss Canada, but Arizona has
provided another outlook on life, and our friends and family come down and visit almost every winter, many with motor homes. We
had two cats and a beautiful Greyhound which we adopted. After
their trainers no longer find them useful on the race track, they are
ready to discard them and a kind and humane woman started an adoption agency to save these wonderful animals as many were found shot in the desert. We are so thankful to her because Ginger
was the most beautiful and polite animal we ever had. The cats
were also a joy - a Calico and a furry tortoise shell - extremely
intelligent. They are all gone now, but the memories linger. It
gives us more opportunity to travel and get away at a moments
notice. Would love to hear from some of the friends that I went
to school with at St. John's.
