Life After high school I tried the 4 yr college plan at SIUE. It wasn't the right fit for me, so I tried the minimum wage job thing while having fun sowing my wild oats. After 2 1/2 years at home raising my first son, Jason, born in 1985, I started my career with the federal government in 1988. I spent 12 years working at the Record Center in Overland, MO, and then took a year off after some stressful situations. I realized I was totally spoiled as a government employee, and there was no possible way I could work in the private sector, so I went running back to beg for work with the government. I've been with the VA since April 2001. I assist Veterans in obtaining their education benefits. I love my job, and I'm helping some of the most deserving people in the country.
