Sonja's Story

Life I'm currently living in San Antonio with my partner Steve and our 4 kids. I have 2 awesome children, ages 17 and 12, and 2 lovely step-daughters, ages 16 and 8 living with me, and 3 more step-daughters in California, along with 2 grandchildren, also in CA. No time for pets, with chasing all these kids around! I have been working for Plant Interscapes for over 5 years now, and also continuing with my artistic endeavors. I have sold many pieces over the years, but my greatest achievement so far is to have had my art hang in the Heritage Museum in Talequah,OK, the capital of the Cherokee Nation. The years seem to have flown by since high school. There have been more adventures and events than I can even remember, but life has been very kind to me throughout the years. School I'd love to tell you all about my high school years, but the memory really IS the first thing to go, and I'm getting up there ya know, after all it's been (Gasp) 19 years!!! Seriously, high school was great! I met alot of wonderful people, some of whom are still close friends today, others of whom I'm hoping to reconnect with some day. My favorite teacher was Ms. Janert. I remember ...Expand for more
grumbling when she was tough on me (...did several after school detentions with her!), but I realized later that she really cared. I ran into her years later, and she remembered me. She was one of the first people to inspire me to 'think outside of the box.' I was alot zanier back then, and everyday was an adventure. There were so many silly things going on all the time! One of the funniest things that I can recall though is Prom Night. My date and I had planned on getting a limo to take us to the prom, but on calling around we found that it would be a bit pricer than expected (teenagers have No concept of expense, I keep telling mine this!) so we decided to double date and split the cost. I left the arrangements with my date, and all was well. That is until the limo pulled up. It didn't look quite 'right' for some reason, no tinted windows, no cool seating arrangement, kinda old...but the price was right, I was told. I found out later that it came from a funeral parlor on the other side of town. Our 'driver' was actually one of the funeral home directors earning a little extra money after hours! We must have been the most cheerful bunch he had driven around in a while!!!
