Sonja's Story
Traveled all over the USA after graduation, got married, had two wonderful daughters, got divorced. The single life has been very good!
My kids: Kendra graduated from WSU in May, 2001 and has a wonderful husband, Chuck, and a daughter, Ryan Lillie. Kiersten worked as a firefighter for the US Forest Service and was a smokejumper with the Redmond (Oregon) Air Center. She and her husband, Matt, (also a smokejumper) had a little girl, Jordan Sorensen Taylor, born in May 2003. Matt passed away in February 2005 after a long bout with cancer. Kiersten graduated with a Nursing degree from Oregon Health Sciences University in June 2007.
The past: Haven't kept in contact with anyone from my class other than Pam Walker.... and haven't talked to her since 1993. If anyone knows how to contact her let me know. I spoke briefly to Larry Raschke in March 2001 and learned that he is still in the Chehalis area.
My family: My dad still lives in Chehalis area; my mom passed away in October 2003. I do get up that way 3 or 4 times a year. Robin lives in Texas with her husband, Manny. Gary, passed away in 1993. Brian passed away in July 2009. Chad and Jody still live in Washington.
What I do: Currently, I am the Program Development Officer for the Oregon Child Car...Expand for more
e Division and manage a $131 million budget. From 1998 to 2002, Workforce Policy Analyst/Project Manager in the Governmental Affairs Office of the Oregon Employment Department. Worked in the Governor's office from 1994 to 1997 as a workforce policy analyst.
Education: BS in Economics/Marketing (Oregon State University), MBA in Management - Training/Development in 1991. I will always be a lifelong learner - plan to go to Lewis & Clark Law School in Fall 2010. Would like to write a book on the U.S Constitution.
For fun: Have lived in Oregon since 1985. Plan to live here summers after I retire; some place warm in the winters. Having fun with family and friends and really enjoying life.... the 40's were very good to me; the 50's are turning out to be just as much fun!! I am an avid flyfisherman and take one exotic fishing trip every year. Have flyfished from the wilds of Alaska to Mexico and across the ocean to Australia. Still traveling all over when I get a chance; spent the month of April 2008 in Australia with my granddaughter Jordan. Next trip - Morocco with friends! Club Med here we come!! Then the Orient.
