After high school I enlisted in the US Air Force and attended basic training at Lackland AFB,Texas.
Next I was assigned to Chanute AFB in Rantoule, Illinois and attended technical training school for Aircraft Mechanic, Jet, Over Two Engines. I trained on B-52's.
I was then assigned to McGuire AFB in New Jersey and served as an aircraft mechanic and Assistant Crew Chief on C-130¿s.
My next assignment was to Naha AB, Okinawa where I served as a Crew Chief on C-130A 56-0489 flying sorties all over Viet Nam. I became the Crew Chief on 56-0533 flying "Blind Bat" flare missions out of Ubon, Thailand over North Viet Nam and Laos, and dropping flares along the Ho Chi Minh Trail as a forward air controller. I participated in the support operations of the January 1968 taking of the USS Pueblo. Got to see the Philippines, Japan, Korea, Okinawa, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia and of course Viet Nam.
When my enlistment was up in October, 1968, I returned to good old Hyattsville and went to work at Moyer's Esso in Greenbelt awaiting acceptance for a job with the federal government.
In 1969 I went to work for the US General Services Administration (GSA). I started as a Building Operating Engineer and worked my way up into management. I also served as GSA's Special Operations Manager working on the Carter, Reagan, GHW Bush, Clinton, and GW Bush Inaugurals and the second Clinton transistion as well as the NATO 50th Anniversary.
I ended my federal career as the Director of the Special Services Center based in Landover. They were responsible for the maintenance and repair of all the high voltage equipment, fire alarm equipment, refrigeration, landscaping, moving and pest control for the entire National Capital Region.
I spent one year as a consultant to GSA and one year as the Executive Director Of Operations for a private sector firm over seeing the operations of the Office of Homeland Security complex in Washington, the FAA Headquarters Building, the Dept. of Education Headquarters Building and the Treasury Building on 14th Street.
I married my lovely bride ( a Bladensburg graduate) in 1965. We have two daughters and six grandchildren.
