Sonya's Story
Life
After highschool, I attended and graduated with my BS degree from Concord College in Athens West Virginia. I also attended East Carolina University where I received my masters in Mathematics Education.I currently teach Algebra and Science at the 8th grade level. I also teach part-time at East Carolina University and work with NCDPI teaching other teachers. I am married and have three children Brittany, Ryan and Matthew ages 15-20. A new addition of a grandson, David Lee Jones Jr., has entered our family.

Workplace
I am currently an 8th grade Algebra, Math and Science teacher.I also teach part-time at East Carolina University and work with NCDPI teaching other teachers. I have been Teacher of the Year and have earned awards in math and science as a teacher. I sponsor the Jr. Beta Club, Math club and Science club. I am Staff Development Chairperson and am on the School Leadership Team. I am also contracted by DPI and North Carolina University to conduct Summer Seminars and Institutes. Furthermore, I am also contracted with the Educational Development Center in Boston Mass. Additionally, I work at the 21st Century Afterschool program (pretty busy, hugh?).
