Sophia's Story
Since May, 1959, I attended Tennessee State
University for four years, earned the B.S. degree
in Business Education; served as a classroom
teacher in Rutherford County (Holloway High School) for five years; earned the M.S. degree in Guidance and Counseling in 1968. Spent 30 years in Metro Nashville Public Schools as a Professional School Counselor (North Nashville High, Pearl High, East Nashville High and retired in 1998 from Maplewood High) Received many awesome years of experiences while giving back to the communiy.
I always wanted to be a contributing member of society when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a fantastic idea. As it turns out, they were correct.
Reading e-mail messages, talking on the phone and volunteering at elementary schools as a reading tutor.

I have several heroes: Mom and Dad; all my school teachers; my present church pastor; and President Barack Obama.
The one person from my past who I'd most like to see again is Dr Harry Beamon--( the late), because he was my soulmate..
My dormitory life was spent at Hankle Hall on the campus of Tennessee State University during the summers of 1965 and l966. My membership in Greekdom began in the summer of 1966 when membership intake took place in the SIGMA GAMMA RHO SORORITY, INC.--inducted in Upsilon Sigma Chapter with continuous membership for 44 years. Life member status occurred 35 plus years ago.
As a retiree, my aspirations are to do extensive traveling and just enjoying life.
When two of my brothers had a disagreement, began shoving each other and in the process, I was accidentally pushed on the heater where the back of my hand was burned--a scar that will be visible for the rest of my life.
