Stacy's Story
I remember in Civics having to do a career fair and list 3 careers we would like to have as adults. I listed a teacher, a secretary, and a Tupperware lady. Well, I attained every career and then some.
I have taught everything from preschool through adult education; every subject as well as special education. As a Tupperware Manager I taught microwave cooking classes and money saving tips for the family. As a Financial Advisor/Registered Representative I taught teachers about investments, the stock market, and retirement planning. While preparing taxes, I teach people strategies for saving on taxes and preparing for retirement. Teaching is a natural part of my world no matter what my "real" job is - I always find a way to share my love of knowledge.
Since HS I've been living in Oklahoma. I received both my BS and MS in education from OSU and have lived in Stillwater for over 30 years. I've been married for 31 years to my husband, Mike. We have 3 children and 1 granddaugh...Expand for more
ter together. He also has 2 children, 2 granddaughters and 1 great-granddaughter.
Currently I own a furniture store, Bed Mart Furniture Gallery. I have owned this for almost 3 years, so I am still learning the ins and outs of the retail market.
I also have a second job as a tax advisor/preparer with H&R Block during the tax season. I've been doing this for the past 12 years and it fulfills the "insane" part of me. (Everyone tells me I have to be crazy to do taxes and I really enjoy it so I figure I must be a bit insane, right?)
We raised our 3 children and occasionally the step children and/or grandchildren and as many extra stray children that needed a home. I always became the summer "neighborhood" mom and taxi because I was the mom at home and I had the large van. Wherever I went, half the neighborhood went! It was always a lot of fun and lots of good memories!
Now I spend my days running the furniture store and waiting for any new grandbabies that might come along.
