Stacy's Story

Life My life bio? Seriously, you must be bored. Well, I was born & raised in Hastings, MN. I was raised by my father in the country - we didn't even have cable. I attended Kennedy Elementary, Hastings Middle School, and Hastings High School. Now I am married, live in Central Florida, and have worked for Walt Disney World for the past 5 years. I am a Regional Engineering Coordinator, and you would have no idea what that means unless you worked here. Basically, I keep track of everything that needs to work. Yes, exciting - I know. I have a cat named Baby. Very original name, again, I know. I also have a ferret named Venkman whom we call Binky because Venkman is too hard to yell when you have a weasel digging through the trash can. I am planning on moving back to Hastings. School School? Ha! If you remember right, I didn't like to go. And you real astute people might have noticed I wasn't there during my 11th & 12th grade years. If I was popular, rumors of death, dropping out, or joining the circus may have been heard in the hallways between class, BUT I wasn't so more than likely no one even noticed/cared I was gone. Does that matter? No! You're going to hear what happened anyway! I homeschooled myself and did get a high school diploma, not a GED. Sorry, that's the boring truth. You may have noticed me working at McDonald's during those "mystery years", but then again, you probably didn't. But I did, and I probably still hold the record for longest drive through time. 37 minutes and 42 seconds! Yay, go me! Do I regret leaving school? Yes and no. I sort of missed out on a lot, but let's face it - I hated school and probably wouldn't do it again if you paid me. As for the teacher that inspired me most, there were a few. Mr. Spencer Johnson from Hastings Middle School was my favorite. And according to what he signed in my yearbook, I was his favorite too. Me, and everybody elses yearbook he signed. Coming in a close second was Mr. DeWall. CRAZY, I know. ;) I still have that rubberized pencil he gave me in Landscape Design, and it is still as unamazing as it was that first day. Don't tell him I said that, he thought they were the Holy Grail or something. He would be proud to know that I am currently landscaping my front yard. College I originally started going to The Ringling School of Art & Design in Sarasota, Florida. However, that didn't last long since it costs $30K a year. So, now I occasionally take classes at the local community college while working full time. Workplace If you want my whole work history, I have time to give it. ool credit for it. Thanks DeWall! When I was 16 I worked at Animal Ark Animal Shelter in the morning cleaning out the dog kennels. Very glamorous indeed! However, the people I worked with were, uh... strange and no matter how many times I tried to convince them that it wasn't MY fault they had failed in life and now hose down turds for a living, they didn't lighten up. So I got a second job at McDonald's. It was fun, like falling into an open sewer kind of fun. And yes, if you're following correctly, I cleaned feces in the morning and served food at night. Bon appetite! Somewhere along the line I started helping out at Studio 61. Well, 3 jobs is just too much for a wee 16 y/o, so I quit Animal Ark. Alright, I moved to Texas and worked at Blockbuster Video in Austin. Easiest job ever. I was even Employee of the Month! Sure, there were only like 6 employees and everyone had a turn at it - but I betcha my name is still on the plaque! Just don't tell them that I now have NetFlix or they'll probably try to scratch it off. Okay, moved back to MN and got a job at Big K-Mart. I filled in for the manager of the Jewelry/Cosmetics/Accessories Dept while she was on a extended leave of absence. Ironic placement considering I am not a girly girl, but whatever. I liked it, it was cool. Okay, a month after my 18th B-day in 2000, I moved to Florida and got a Disney job working at All Star Movies. I did luggage, front desk, housekeeping dispatch, engineering dispatch, phones room, Guest Services, runner and whatever the hell else they wanted. I was even on the "Fly Team" which translated to "You do whatever we want, where ever we want, when ever we want." I lasted 2 years before I started having thoughts along the lines of "If I step out in front of this bus, I won't have to work today". That's a sign to leave, so I transfered to Epcot where I worked as a Maintenance Base Coordinator. Best job ever. I even got to do park announcements! If you heard "May I have your attention please? Mr. So-and-so from Germany, please dial 4777 from any house phone for a message" that was ME! I'm, like, famous! But, the 3:30 PM - 1:30 AM schedule wasn't really workin' for me, so I transfered again. I had a great opportunity to become an Opening Team member for Pop Century Resort as an Engineering Coordinator. I set up all the computer programs for Engineering, and made sure all our equipment was in the system. Now, I maintain all things maintenance for Pop Century & Caribbean Beach. It's a long job description, so I will spare you the details. Basically, I know everything that goes on in my department. If I don't know about it, it's probably not supposed to be happening.
