Stanley's Story
After graduating from Wadena H.S. in 1962, I attended Bemidj State College (as it was called then) for 1 year and then, after 3 years, graduated from the University of Minnesota in Duluth, where I earned a B.A. in English in 1966. I attended the University of Maryland from 1966 to 1978, earning MA and Ph.D degrees in English and teaching as a graduate assistant and instructor for about 10 years. I finished my Ph.D. dissertation, at long last, in 1978. I have published poetry and prose, some of it online (google Stanley P. Anderson).

an editor by the Soil Conservation Service (now the Natural Resources Conservation Service), where I worked in Maryland and then in Lincoln, Nebraska, until my retirement on the last day of December in 2011
I have been married to Janet Shell Anderson since June of 1968. We have three grown-up sons, our proudest creations, Robert, Michael, and Joseph. The oldest is named after my dad, who taught at Wadena High School in the late 50's and early 60's. We have one grandchild, Joe's daughter Charlotte, who is 18 months old. She is a great charmer and a remarkably good talker.
