Stanley's Story
Life
Not married & no children... Probably been too busy - or at least that's the excuse I use. I attended college in Idaho at the College of Idaho and then began working for the U.S. Forest Service as a wildland firefighter- Smokejumper, which until last year I have been doing since 1983. I divide my time between three places, my primary residence of Ketchum, Idaho, and my other two "secondary" residences in Telluride, CO and Portland, OR. My parents moved away from Newport a few years back and they are now in the Portland area as well. I have recently moved out of fire with the Forest Service and have been working as a climbing ranger part-time and working on buying homes, fixing them up and then either turning them into rentals or selling them. Doing all the work myself I enjoy it. I am able to travel quite a bit and spend time each spring at my fourth "home" in Italy on the western coast of Tuscany where anyone is welcome to visit me, and ...Expand for more
I have had almost a dozen visitors so far.
Trail running, SCUBA diving/instructing, mountain and road biking, triathlons and the related training, eating, sleeping, and being available for my parents seem to be my primary tasks in life. I did teach school for 15 years (first grade) and enjoyed it, however I am enjoying a break from it as well. I recently opened up a coffee shop (Java Nation) in Beaverton, OR and although I will soon be selling it, it was a fun and challenging task. All-in-all life has been good, knock-on-wood... And I wish the same for others. With my travels and basic life experiences it has been increasingly clear that we grew up in a cherished time and place, at least I feel as if I did.
I hope to hear from anyone out there who may remember me.

Workplace
From the forests, to construction sites, to a new coffee shop... My workplaces have been varied, exciting and abnormal. But I'm glad I did it!
