Stephan's Story
I left town as soon as I graduated from Big Red in 1969. I attended the University of Missouri-St. Louis and graduated in 1974. I lived in St. Louis until 1981 working at the University of Missouri- St. Louis and Lindenwood University. I moved to Pittsburgh in 1981 and worked at the University of Pittsburgh until I joined the New Pittsburgh Courier, one of the oldest and most historic Black newspapers in America, in 1985, left in 1993 and started my own marketing, advertising & PR firm, help start a successful telecommunications management company and returned to the Courier in 2003 where I am currently assistant to the publisher.

2. I'm a serious Funk, Soul & Jazz music lover; sometime DJ (Vinyl only), sometime promoter & supporter of the arts.

4. My mother, who passed away in January 2009, always told me that I'm just like Jesus; I love everyone.
5. I'm very focused and committed about my work and have always been a dedicated community activist. I've always been pretty much of a free spirit and have been known to speak my mind about things I feel strongly about.
6. I'm a hopeless romantic.
7. I hated history in school, but working for the Black Press over the last 25 years and learning the truth and depth of real struggle & accomplishments of people of color has turned me into a history buff!
8. I spend way too much time on the computer.
9. I'm very good at anything I set out to do once I put my mind to it.
10. If I had it to do over again, I don't think I would change a thing. I have truly been blessed and my life has been a wonderful journey.
