Stephanie's Story
Life
After graduation, I moved to California and married Wayne Titsworth. In 1986, we welcomed our first son named David. In 1989, Robert was born. In 1994, we legally changed our last name to Thomas.
I work as a Project Control Technician in the Engineering Systems Management Department at Eastern Municipal Water District. I track and schedule current engineering projects.
In May 1998, I filed for divorce due to Wayne straying out of the marriage. What at that time felt like the end of the world, was actually the beginning. I met my current husband, Peter, January 1999, through Judge Judy. Yes, it is true, but a long story. We were married in September 1999. All our children stood up with us (he has a son and two daughters). David gave me away. My husband is a Sgt for LAPD. My hobbies include raising my dogs (Tara - Belgian Malanois, Lakota - Chocolate Lab, Cheyenne - Blond Lab and Kiowa (Lakota's half brother) who is a black lab. We also lost Bruno in 2000, our 150 pound retired police dog to health problems, Torra a belgian malinois to old age and our chocolate lab, Dakota to cancer in November 2003.
I have never been more happier or at peace as I have been these last few years. Unfortunately, sometimes it takes a tragedy to realize how precious life is, and to live like everyday is your last.
My oldest son, David, is 22 and in the Navy. He is an Air Traffic Controller, and is stationed about 4 hours north of us. He drives down usually every other weekend. However, come spring he is getting stationed in Pearl Harbor...Expand for more
. My youngest, Bobby, is 19, and is a great kid. I am very proud how both my boys turned out.
School
If I could do high school all over again, would I? No way!
College
I received my AS in Administration of Justice from Mt San Jacinto College. I received BS in Criminal Justice from UoP. I plan to continue on in the studies of Forensics, and Law enforcement with the ultimate goal of working as a Coroner Investigator at LA Coroner. I also received my certificate for Crime Scene Investigation from UCR. It inclues various crime analysis classes specializing in different areas of crime scenes. I recently attended a two week academy for San Bernardino Coroner's Volunteer unit in which I help whereever needed. My favorite is helping with the cemetary excavations to retrieve DNA samples from our unidentified. We have over 100 that need to be collected, and it takes all day to collect four samples. So, it will take some time but hopefully we can give a family some closure.
Workplace
I currently work full-time at Eastern Municipal Water District in the Engineering System Management department as a Project Control Technician II. I have been with the District for 17 years. I work with a computer program called Primavera, or P5 for short. The program helps me schedule and keep track of all the Engineering projects currently in design and construction. I also am responsible for updating the 5-year Capital Improvement Program which helps the District plan for future upgrades within the system worth millions in costs. It is really boring work.
