Stephanie's Story
Life
I am blessed to say that I have been married to the same wonderful man who is also my best friend for over 21 years now. Although we have no children of our own we have 3 beautiful nieces whom we love and enjoy spoiling to pieces. We also adopted a Jack Russell Terrier whose name is Lagniappe. I am a Social Worker by trade and my husband is a manager at a local Wal-Mart. :)
School
I went to grammer school at WCC Claiborne, Jr High at Carrolton Presbyterian School and high school, I graduated from Marion Abramson Sr High in 1983. For my 10th grade year, I attended Clifton L Ganus for half a year (which was not for me particularly) and also went to John F Kennedy for the second half. I LOVED my Abramson so I went back and finished there. My junior and senior year were some of the best (and saddest) times that I have had. I have some very good memories of high school from Campus Life to the football games and riding with Evie in her mom's blue station wagon. Our senior trip was a blast too! I will never forget how I got to meet Anthony Geary (Luke on General Hospital) and all the fun we had.
College
I went to UNO for about a year after graduation and also attended William Carey College in Hattiesburg MS for a year. I...Expand for more
then sat for a bit (11 years to be exact) I went back to college (at age 32) to the University of North Alabama where I earned my Bachelor's of Social Work degree.
Workplace
This is a funny question - it should actually ask where did I NOT work. I have probably worked at half of the places in New Orleans East and some of Metairie. My very first job (age 15-because I had to get a work permit from NBC) was at Wilson's Department Store out near the Plaza. It later became a Service Merchandise, a Word of Life church and quite a few other things. I also worked at Scicily's Pizza on Read Blvd. and then over to Maison Blanche and half the LF mall. In my field (social work), I worked in the mental health area (no comments from the peanut gallery please) and also in the foster care section. (very good but also verrrrrry tragic) I currently work for a company who works with facilities in determinining disability for patients. (long story - won't telll you all the details here)
Military
I have never served in the military but for all those who have and whose families have/currently do, I thank you. I thank you from the bottom of my heart. You all have my sincere respect and gratitude! May God bless each of you and your families.
