Stephanie's Story
Life
I can't believe it's been 25 years now. Got into horse racing right out of school (throughbreds), an activity I still pursue. Waited 18 years to get married. Glad I waited. It was worth it. Started racing cars in 1998. Now my husband and I participate in 12 and 24 hour endurance races all up & down the eastern seaboard. I never thought when I used to listen to Mr. Ober talk about his weekend racing that one day I'd be doing it also. Heck, we used to ask him about his racing just to get out of having a class! (sorry Les!) It's a lot of fun.
I have a stepdaughter, and she's great. Never did want to have kids of my own, and I am glad I didn't. My stedaughter is all the children I want!
I've worked in a variety of things since being on my own, from writing to sales. All in all, I'm happy with my life and where I ended up.

Like all of life, work has been a constantly evolving, developing part of it. Sometimes I still think that I don't know what I want to be when I grow up! Currently, I have been exploring the area of freelance writing and photography, and it has been rewarding. Already it's taken me across the country, landed a small co-author role in a travel book and a chance to view areas that the public doesn't normally get to see. It has helped that I already had a niche when I started (equine sports), and to be honest I think the fact that it's a small specialized field has been the reason for the amount of work I've already found.
I still own my own business (retail). I like it, it's demanding, sometimes frustrating, sometimes rewarding, but I feel like part of the community.
As far as the future? Who knows, maybe the next time I post on here, it will be to blather on about learning to cook and wash bottles! :^D
