Stephen's Story
Life
OK... new bio: I was born in Michigan and grew up in Detroit but moved away before the riots in 1967. I moved to a rural town called Lawrence and lived there until I was 20. From there I went to Tucson, back to Michigan, out to Portland, Oregon, then to Chicago, and finally to Austin, Texas where I have lived since 1986. Currently I am a senior auditor specializing in information technology. I am also a bassist, but like play guitar and harmonicas as well. Music I listen to ranges from Mozart to Ozomatli, from Charles Mingus to Sly Stone, Willie Nelson to Frank Zappa. I spend a lot of time building my urban farm in central Austin. large garden, fruit and nut trees, composting, herbs, seed production, and soon rainwater collection, vermicompost, and mushroom cultivation. I am also a World War Two nut. Some of my heroes are Leonardo da Vinci, Ethan Allen - who was my great, great... grandfather, Harriet Tubman, Stephen Hawking, Mohamed Ali, DIck Butkus, and more recently Fyodor, Susumu Tachi, Paul Strassmann, and Edward Tufte. Frankly, I rarely trust anyone anymore. I am also extremely curious. I am committed to reducing my ecological footprint and making sure that the Earth is better than when I first came into existence. As of this writing, I believe I still have a long way to go.
