Stephen's Story

My life in a nutshell Stephen Brown Born in a small town Raised there too Couldn’t find much I liked to do Romed the streets late at night Liked things better without the light Some nights me and my friend would borrow a car But we never drove them VERY far During high school which I rarely went Home work time was never spent Never a book report or term paper done No homework was completed not even one No prom, no dances or social actions did I go Don’t know why I was always a no show A lot of wonderful memories were missed Probably why it was so long before I was kissed Move to the country my junior year Miles from everything that I held dear Spent many days and nights alone Hell I didn’t even have a phone cared for my brothers night and day Sometimes I wanted to just run away We were left alone all of the days and nights Something just didn’t seem right Moved back to Greenfield my senior year Nothing changed things still not clear Expelled from high school Just couldn’t follow the rule At the time I guess I was a fool Got a job with an old man who was gay Painted houses every day Really missed being in school Painting houses wasn’t that cool Turned eighteen I stuck out my thumb California here I come Found a job and met some f...Expand for more
riends Went to the beach and jumped right in Fell in love with California but couldn’t stay The draft was on and and calling me away But I knew then I would be back before to long And California would forever be my home Hitch hiked back home But couldn’t stay very long I was sent off to war I still don’t know what for Affected my life forever more After Vietnam I was a mess Lot of things I couldn’t dismiss To Califorinia I did return To spend the rest of my life and to learn Decided I must get back to school The one thing I wasn’t was a fool Completed school at Cal State Studied hard and my grades were great Proud that I received my B. S degree It’s on my wall for all to see Love the ocean Love th coast California is the place I love the most Like to hike Like to bike No longer can get on a trike Love to explore Love to eat Discovering something new is always a treat Met a sweet girl She became my wife Always will be the love of my life Love my family Love my friends This I know will never end Have two sons Barely know one There is still time To make this rhyme Retired now and bored as can be. Body is old and broken. All I do is pee. Back to hiking, the beach, the redwoods and the coast. This is what I love the most Steve
