Stephen's Story
Life
Education:
I graduated from Lamar in 1980 with a Bach. degree in Music, did some graduate work in music at Texas State, and later earned an M.Ed. from The Univ. of Texas at San Antonio. I'm contemplating beginning work on my doctorate, but I have children to put through college first!
Career and Family:
I have been a band director in the San Antonio area for most of my 29-year career. I am currently the band director at Heritage Middle School in the East Central (San Antonio) School District. I have also taught in El Campo, East Bernard, New Braunfels, Big Spring, and Schertz-Cibolo-Universal City ISDs.

y daughter Emma is a freshman at Texas Womans University in Denton majoring in Occupational Therapy. My son Willy plays drums in a band called the Lucas Taylor Trio and is playing a lot of gigs in San Antonio and the hill country. He'll be starting at Texas State this fall as a business major. My youngest son, Grif, is in fifth grade--I hope he will become a french horn player like his dad.
Since I've been away from the Beaumont area for most my life, I haven't been very good about keeping up with old friends and acquaintances. However, in 2003 I did attend a Forest Park "band of the 70s" reunion and that was really fun! I was really surprised by how much Beaumont has changed since I graduated.
