Stephen's Story

Married 35years to same woman. She is a really good person. Has to be to be able to put up with me. We have one daughter, one son in law, and two grandaughters. One grandaughter is 14 and the other is 5. The 5 year old just started playing soccer. I've become a soccer grandaddy. Been an accountant for over 30years. Never became a CPA, but everything worked out okay. Work for State of Texas, Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission (Liquor Control). I'm an auditor, investigator, inspector, compliance officer, and whatever else they talk me into doing. Job gets real interesting, but also gets "hairy" sometimes. I interact with various types of people including law enforcement personnel. Most people are nice and some not so nice. Spouse is administrative director for a non profit organization. Both of us want to retire in a few years. Time to chill out. Military Most vivid memory is Vietnam - Saigon Tet Offiensive 1968. Mortar, rocket attacks, & small arms fire. NVA & VC almost shot down a Pan American Boeing 707 heading back to the "world". Spent two years in Tokyo, Japan. Had a super good time. Perfect for a young man. Would not trade the military experience for anything. Only problem is when I came back to US. Protesters calling us "baby killers". Had some problem getting a...Expand for more
