Life
After a straight path up a partnership track at a large Dallas law firm, I got diverted. A midlife crisis at 35 resulted in several major changes, several different exotic cars, another degree and new pursuits.
Now, I am running the legal department of a loan company in Dallas. I own a minority interest in a loan company and travel all over the United States, but find myself in Santa Fe, Albuquerque, Las Vegas, Austin, Boise, Portland (OR), Denver and Salt Lake City fairly regularly. No kids, no wife, just me living the Corporate Life in Far North Dallas. Since joining the loan company in 2002 we have doubled in size every year. I have become somewhat of an expert in Mergers and Acquisitions law. Additionally, I act as the company's lobbyist so I am found in the capitols often. Financial Institutions law is my real focus. ely consume my life.
My passions are still fine English motor cars, French Bordeaux wine, landscape oil paintings from Northern and Western Europe, travel to foreign countries, specimens of gemstones, and vintage watches. I am not sure that I have changed much since high school, except that now I can speak to groups of hundreds without my knees shaking.
Actually after the loss of most of our family to separate tragic diseases (mom and dad) and a horrific car accident (baby sister), my brother and I have learned to cherish the time we have together. Michael has the greatest wife and three kids. My circle of eight friends is also a huge safety net for me.
