Stephen's Story
Education & Career:
From BHS I went on to the University of Chicago for my B.A. in Physics, then on to the University of Michigan for my M.S. & Ph.D. in Astronomy. From there I spent two years working at the Mexican National Observatory in Baja California, then a year teaching at Bowling Green State in Ohio, then three years in a research position at Columbia University in New York City. Currently I am a tenured Associate Professor of Physics & Astronomy at Hofstra University on Long Island, 25 miles outside of New York City. Personal Life:
After several relationships with women that can best be described as "awkward," in my senior year of college I finally accepted that I was gay. After a few more relationships with men that might best be described as "disastrous," I finally met the right guy in October 1991. We've been together ever since, surviving several separations across three time zones and an international border. In August 2006 we officially got married in Windsor, Canada. In 2007 we finally got jobs within 25 miles of each other, and are now proud but broke owners of a ridiculously overpriced house in Stewart Manor, NY.
